Question 6

The user that is used for the gateway of GSNW must be a member of what group on the NetWare server?

A.  NTGWAY
B.  GSNW group
C.  NTGATEWAY
D.  ADMIN

Question 7

Microsoft SQL Server is installed on a Windows NT server. What must be installed on the Windows NT server to let NetWare clients access the SQL server? Choose all that apply.

A.  File and Print Services for NetWare (FPNW)
B.  Gateway Services for NetWare (GSNW)
C.  Directory Service Manager for NetWare (DSMN)
D.  NWLink IPX/SPX protocol

Question 8

You successfully complete the NWCONV process. After tailoring your clients to log on to your local NT domain instead of NetWare, users in Engineering report that they no longer can access a network drive containing critical CAD files. You check to make sure the files migrated from the NetWare server; they did. What is the most likely cause of the problem?

A.  NWCONV migrated directory permissions incorrectly, which prevents your users from accessing the network drive.
B.  NWCONV changed the CAD file attributes to make them hidden system files.
C.  NWCONV failed to migrate the logon script from the NetWare server. You should re-run NWCONV to fix the problem.
D.  NWCONV does not migrate logon scripts. You must re-create them manually under Windows NT.
E.  None of the above.

Question 9

NWCONV reports four errors during a trial migration. Where can you quickly find out what happened?

A.  NWCONV.ERR
B.  SUMMARY.LOG
C.  NWCONV.LOG
D.  ERROR.LOG
E.  LOGFILE.LOG

Question 10

You are the administrator of four NetWare 3.1x servers and three NetWare 4.1x servers. You are implementing an NT server as an IPX RAS. You want any and all of your users to access the RAS remotely and are therefore considering using NWCONV to migrate your 700+ user base. Which server(s) will you identify for migration?

A.  One NetWare 4.1x server and one NetWare 3.1x server.
B.  Each NetWare 4.1x server and each NetWare 3.1x server.
C.  One NetWare 4.1x server and each NetWare 3.1x server.
D.  None. NetWare 4.1x servers cannot be migrated simultaneously with NetWare 3.1x servers.

Question 11

When using NWCONV, which of the following conditions does not need to be true?

A.  You must be directly logged onto the NetWare server to run NWCONV.
B.  GSNW and NWLINK must be appropriately installed and configured.
C.  Files migrated to NT must be migrated to an NTFS partition.
D.  NWCONV must target a domain controller.
E.  You must be logged onto the NT server as an administrator.

Question 12

You can modify destination share names and file paths on the NTFS volume by

A.  Building a mapping file.
B.  Modifying the file options.
C.  Manually renaming shares and directories after the migration is completed.
D.  Modifying the file options—but only the directory path can be changed.
E.  Share names and destination paths are inherited names from the NetWare volume and cannot be changed during the migration process.

Question 13

True or False: You can successfully use NWCONV without supervisor rights to the source NetWare server.

Question 14

True or False: If the Use Supervisor Defaults option is checked under the Defaults tab of the User and Group Options dialog box, NetWare time restrictions for all migrated accounts will supersede Windows NT account policy time restrictions.

12.13.2. Exercises

Case Study: Urban Designs, Inc.

Company:

Urban Designs, Inc., a corporate interior decorating and art supply company with 89 employees in three offices: Baltimore, Dallas, and Seattle.

Existing Network Operating System:

Novell NetWare 4.10 installed at all three sites.

Solution:

One mid-range server is installed per site; each site is connected by a T1 line.
  1 AS/400 for back-office computing
  10BaseT Ethernet topology running IPX/SPX
  35 PC (486) clients, 20 Mac O/S, and 5 OS/2
Eight telecommuting clients via analog dial-up adapters
Five network (SAP) devices (laser printers)
  Seven NetWare NPRINTERS

Details:

NDS replication between all three servers is active. Utilization averages 40 to 50 percent per server. Your third-party remote connectivity solution is reported too slow by users. Novell GroupWise is used for communications and everyone is very satisfied with the product. All buildings are wired CAT-5. The company has no commitment to the OS/2 platform. The company is projecting a 10 to 15 percent increase in PC-using staff next year. Its main competitor is on the Internet and experimenting with streaming video, VRML, and other bleeding-edge technologies with its customers.

Situation:

A network capital improvement project was given the green light by senior management. You are in charge of meeting the following expectations:

Reduce network traffic and maximize available bandwidth.
Upgrade clients to realistically support today’s high-intensity design software packages and full multimedia.
Prepare the network and clients for “Internet to the desktop.”

Overall, what are your recommendations?

If your recommendation includes Windows NT, how do you handle NetWare integration? What audits, analysis, or studies do you perform?

Would you completely migrate to Windows NT and turn off the Novell servers? Why or why not? What would you have to address if you did?

What special steps are necessary to ensure migrated users could have remote access to the NT network after the migration?
